Most enterprise storage solutions also have replication. They can asynchronously and synchronously maintain a mirror image of the storage system. The problem is that even though most vendors today include replication in their solution, the hardware cost of the second or third system is so expensive they are forced to count on the backup as the disaster recovery strategy, which is slow and cumbersome.
